Titus Talent Strategies Connects their Remote Workforce with Ohana

The Challenge

Titus Talent Strategies is a performance-driven recruiting firm. Each employee on their 75-person team works completely remote. The Titus leadership team didn’t have a problem communicating their standards and goals to employees, but what they lacked was a way to communicate and more importantly, show their fun company culture.

Titus Talent Strategies needed a tool that showcased and promoted their company culture to a fully remote workforce.

As Titus grew, they could no longer facilitate company-wide dialogue via email. Email quickly becomes one-sided and hitting “reply-all” to a company-wide email when you have close to 100 employees was just out of the question. Struggling to create water-cooler banter remotely, Titus turned to Ohana.

The Solution

When Titus CEO, Jonathan Reynolds, met the Ohana team in August 2017 at the Indianapolis SHRM Conference, he knew quickly that the tool was a perfect solution to his challenge.

“I met Cynthia [Ohana’s President] at SHRM, and we hit it off, had a good connection. I like Cynthia, you know? We met the next day, she wanted to show me the app, and I was like, ‘Cool. Love it. Sign me up!’ She’s a visionary and a business owner.”

Moving to Ohana would separate their just-for-fun from the important updates, and employees would be able to consume the just-for-fun information at their leisure. On top of cutting down the amount of emails in their inbox, Ohana also offered an interactive employee directory which would give easy, on-the-go access to contact information. Ultimately, it would create relational connections among their employees.

Ohana’s real-time posting feature would give employees a way to share their lives and personalities with their teammates – posts like, “Here I am on a date with my spouse,” or “Here I am with my kids,” or “I’m working, but I’m sitting in Florida today.” Ohana would become their virtual break room and their virtual happy hour spot – it would be their virtual place to connect with each other.

Titus launched to their entire organization in November 2017 and hasn’t looked back.

The Result

After 12 months using Ohana, Titus has made enormous strides reducing the amount of internal email, and it’s been much easier to promote their company culture.

With 100% of their employees on the platform and over 70% logging in on a weekly basis, Titus has been able to completely disable the “reply-all” feature for their internal emails. The comments section on each post allows for a digital-two way dialogue among employees of all levels, roles, and tenure.

New hires receive warm welcomes from colleagues across the country. Employees share pictures and videos from their home offices. The post content is endless – high fives for a job well done, new pets, motivational quotes, weekend activities with family, lunches with clients… all in real time.

“Your retention is better if you’re working alongside people you really like. I would argue that you like people when you know them better, and it’s hard to do when you have a remote workforce. You don’t have the ‘hey, let’s hangout in the break room,’ or ‘we’re going to get a drink after work.’ We don’t have that because we’re 100% mobile, so we have to fully force that in other areas and [Ohana] is one way of doing that.”
