How to Block Websites with Ohana
The digital world is full of opportunities, but not everything is suitable for young eyes. Ohana helps you keep your kid safe on the internet. Discover how you can let your kid enjoy their online journey with peace of mind.

Three Pillars of Web Safety with Ohana
The internet is like a limitless ocean, and just like the real world, there are dangerous waters. To make sure your kid is sailing in safe waters, Ohana offers three key features:
1. Ohana Web Protection
Think of this protection as a magical barrier that keeps harmful and inappropriate websites out. It blocks millions of potentially harmful sites with a single tap. The best part? It's on by default, so categories like gambling and adult content are automatically blocked. However, you can always adjust specific categories in the settings to suit your needs.
2. SafeSearch
Kids are curious by nature and are always seeking new knowledge. With SafeSearch, your kid gets only kid-friendly search results. This feature is supported by most popular search engines.
3. Custom Website Management
Every family is unique, and there may be certain websites you want to allow or block. That's where our custom website management comes in. You can allow or block specific sites for your kid on an individual basis, independent of your Web Protection settings.
And this is how it works:
- Open Ohana and tap on your kid’s name under Parenting.
- Scroll down and select Websites.
This is where you have full control: Activate or deactivate categories from Ohana Web Protection, set up SafeSearch, or head to Manage websites to allow or block individual sites.
Pick & Choose with Advanced Blocking
While Web Protection works great for clearly harmful content, we know that platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or ChatGPT aren't simply "good" or "bad" - it depends on your family's needs. That's why we've introduced Advanced Blocking. With this feature, you can choose exactly which platforms to allow within the categories Social Media, Video Platforms, and AI Chatbots. Want to allow YouTube for homework but block TikTok? No problem. Think ChatGPT is helpful but want to restrict other AI tools? You decide. Learn more about Advanced Blocking here.
A Final Tip
Here's something important to know: blocking a website doesn't block its app. So even if you block tiktok.com, your kid can still use the TikTok app. If you really want to keep them off a platform, make sure to block both the website AND the app. Think of it as locking both the front door and the back door - better safe than sorry!
